Girls Water Polo loses narrowly to Harker

In a hard-fought match, the Bruins girl’s water polo team lost 13-16 to the Harker Eagles this Thursday.

The entire game was kept at a slim margin, each team scoring almost as soon as the other team did. At the end of the first half, the Eagles were barely winning 7 to 8.

Bruins coach Aja Bumbaca openly shared her disappointment with the result of the home game.

The Bruins “played hard and they played well for about three of the quarters. But in order to win this league, we need to play hard for four quarters,” Bumbaca said.

Though the season is more than halfway over, co-captain Janel Pascual hopes the team keeps improving.

“I want us to improve on our plays and move more in the water, because sometimes we don’t move and just remain stationary,” Pascual said.

Following this game, SCHS’s record this season stands at 5-4. They are scheduled to play three more games during this season.

Despite her team’s loss, shooter Maddie Higginson was pleased with her team’s efforts.

“I think we came out strong and we finished as hard as we could,” Higginson said.
