“I reuse a lot of things, like bottles, bags and old clothes I don’t wear anymore. For things like old clothes, I like to repurpose them into little plushies or just as fair fabric for any other project, but for plastic bags, I do that regardless. It’s easier than spending a couple of cents every time for a new plastic bag. It saves up. It’s a very small, big difference.” – Max Quade Mendez, freshman
“When it comes to thrift stores, I try to find some local ones. Sometimes when I’m out of town, I go and look for thrift stores around there, too. The main reason I shop at thrift stores is obviously you save money, and it’s better for the community when you reuse clothes and don’t buy new clothes just to dump it out two years later. You can find pretty good things at thrift stores that are possibly better than normal retail and new clothes prices.” – Sofia Mateos Acevedo, sophomore
“I don’t think there’s a lot of challenges behind living more sustainably because you get used to things like separating trash for recycling. You get used to not using electricity too much, or taking only cold showers, or not using the AC or heater sometimes. My family and I, we’re used to it now… everything’s about personal habits, and if everybody as a whole changes, then that leads to something good.” – Gabrielle San Luis, junior
“We do have a bag under the sink full of plastic bags from Sprouts, and then we do use them whenever we need them. Usually it’s for if you’re returning something to somebody or going to grab something. Usually, we used to have a small trash can, so we’d use it for that.” – Tatsuya Ware, senior
