The Bruins girls’ junior varsity soccer team chalked up their first win of the season against the Saratoga Falcons Thursday, ending the game with a 3-0 score.

All three goals were scored in the first half by Corinne Canavero. She was assisted by defender Megan Sequeira in two of the goals and by forward Deminica Bettencourt in the third.

Santa Clara relied on their defense, hardly letting Saratoga pass the half field line.

“We won, and it was a good game,” Sequeira said.

The head coach of the team, Courtney Lucero, said finishing the first half of the season with a win was a positive.

“All their hard work is paying off,” Lucero said.
