Science teacher Siddhi Shah went up and beyond when it came to math
This year, SCHS has welcomed many new staff members to the campus. In the accompanying q & a, we take a look at the high school experiences of Siddhi Shah, the school’s new chemistry and freshmen foundations teacher, and learn a little bit more about her.
Q: What high school did you attend?
A: I went to Dawson High School down in South Georgia.
Q: What were you involved in during high school?
A: I was president of the Interact Club for three years, and president of the Indian Culture Association all four years. I was part of the American Chemical Society, so basically chemistry people talking about crazy nerdy stuff.
Q: What was a typical outfit for you in high school?
A: My style was pretty laid back. In Georgia, we aren’t too big on dressing up. So just casual jeans and a tee shirt.
Q: What advice would you give to your high school self?
A: I would tell myself to be focused, to not get carried away, make the right friends and make the right choices.
Q: What’s your most memorable high school experience?
A: I would say my math classes were most memorable because I always took a higher level of math than my friends. I was always good at math so I’d always finish early and just hang out, helping the teacher grade.
Q: What’s your most memorable teaching experience?
A: I would say my first year was an interesting year. It was learning to deal with fifteen and sixteen year olds which was pretty challenging. It was a little out of my comfort zone because I had never worked with this age group before but I ended up enjoying the experience.
