When Drake and PARTYNEXTDOOR’s newest joint R&B album came out on Valentine’s Day, fans were ecstatic to hear new music after waiting months for its release. Drake spoke publicly about their new album drop when he made a guest appearance at PARTYNEXTDOOR’s performance in their hometown, Toronto, in August 2024.
On Feb. 14, 2025, the two artists released “Some Sexy Songs 4 U,” with 21 tracks that include hypnotizing beats and classic vocals.
Drake and PARTYNEXTDOOR open the album with emotional yet typical lyrics in “CN TOWER.” Both rappers sing about the bitter experience of going through a conflicting relationship as men in a big city, specifically Toronto. To make up for the lyrics’ simplicity and lack of depth, the first track features a mesmerizing beat.
“The city is pretty when it’s dead just like a flower / What color’s the CN Tower? It’s red tonight / Just like the text I sent you from the bed tonight,” PARTYNEXTDOOR sings.
“SOMETHING ABOUT YOU” captures the motif of struggling to establish emotional connections in modern relationships. Drake reassures an insecure love interest after discussing issues the couple had gone through.
“We ain’t linked up in a minute / You’re closin’ tonight, when you finished? / You say you wanted to see me later / And your eyes told me you ain’t pretendin’ / Pull up and pay me a visit / Let’s talk about life, I ain’t trippin’,” Drake sings.
Contrasting Drake’s intimate and seductive lyrics, PARTYNEXTDOOR adds a more lustful and unfiltered perspective to the song. As chaos, such as alcohol and subtle violence, is expressed through his lyrics, he continues to sing affectionately about the balance of romance and a luxurious life.
“Your baby daddy’s on his face / You’re babysittin’ that rosé (Come on) / I bulletproofed that Escalade (Yeah, yeah, yeah),” PARTYNEXTDOOR sings.
To switch up the vibes with a fresh, funky flow, “Nokia” has a groovy beat that enchants listeners to dance. Unlike the rest of the album, the prechorus and chorus are more upbeat. Drake’s lyrics focus on dancing and the clubbing lifestyle with loud music, drinking and lots of women around.
“Is it Stacy? (Who’s callin’ my phone?) / Is it Becky? (Who’s callin’ my phone?) / Is it Keisha? (Who’s callin’ my phone?) / Is it Ellie? (Who’s callin’ my phone?) / Was it Dani? (Who’s callin’ my phone?) / Is it PARTY? (Who’s callin’ my phone?) / Where’s the function?” Drake sings.
“SOMEBODY LOVES ME” provides listeners with a comfort that they will find the one eventually. PARTYNEXTDOOR and Drake yearn for a true love that will help better themselves. The play on words seen in the lyrics and a voice note at the end help to enhance the song, setting the 16th track apart from others.
“Her name is Angel, but she’s far from God (From God) / Bet it don’t pay well to fall in love (In love) / Must be the stars, but something’s linin’ up (It’s up) / Thought my exes was bad, but you finer (Finer),” PARTYNEXTDOOR sings.
In the past, Drake and PARTYNEXTDOOR had been featured in each other’s music several times, but a full-length album has been long anticipated. Despite the two rappers’ different styles of lyrics and vocals, the combination fits together to create a sensational album that is perfect for late night drives.
