After nine years since “Zootopia” premiered on Mar. 4, 2016, “Zootopia 2” was finally released in theaters on Nov. 26, 2025.
Starring the return of Ginnifer Goodwin as Judy Hopps and Jason Bateman as Nick Wilde, “Zootopia 2” dives into a story filled with friendship, plot twists, prejudice and the strength of family.
Previously, “Zootopia” introduced the audience to Judy Hopps, the first rabbit police officer in the city of Zootopia, and Nick Wilde, a fox and so-called con artist. After a series of coincidences and accidents, they band together, making an unlikely team in order to solve a mysterious case of predators gone missing.
“Zootopia 2” continues to build onto Judy and Nick’s friendship as they become co-officers – the first fox and rabbit to work together as partners in the police department. The movie starts by showing how Judy and Nick still face prejudice, even though their role in the previous missing-predator case had already proved how useful they were to the department.
Due to Judy’s persistence in proving herself and Nick to the public as reliable, they get tangled up in an ancient case involving the reappearance of snakes in Zootopia. As they delve into the mysterious history of Zootopia, they realize some animals, including those appearing to be “good” and “bad,” are not what they seem to be.
Through Judy and Nick’s journey, they meet many new animals and develop strange yet reliable friendships with critters such as Nibbles Maplestick, a beaver, and Gary De’Snake, a pit viper. Judy and Nick also face their own ups and downs in their friendship due to their differing mindsets.
Similar to “Zootopia,” “Zootopia 2” features a new song by Gazelle called “Zoo.” With its upbeat tunes and energetic vibe, “Zoo” is a worthy opponent of the previous song Shakira sang for “Zootopia” called “Try Everything.”
“Zootopia 2” is currently playing in theaters and is expected to become available for digital purchase in January 2026. Packed with suspense, humor, friendship, the defiance of societal prejudice and the importance of standing up for one’s beliefs, “Zootopia 2” is an epic sequel to “Zootopia” and filled with action that viewers will love and enjoy.
