Water is essential to staying refreshed and hydrated, and the fountains are indispensable to students as they maneuver around campus to and from class, especially if they forget their water bottles. After trying each of the water fountains scattered throughout SCHS, here are my five personal favorites, in no particular order, based on flavor, temperature and accessibility:

Pizza Line
The water fountain located on the science building against the pizza line wall is easily accessible to the people in the science and art wings in addition to the PE students who pass by. During lunch, any student deciding to get pizza or wandering around can also use it. I especially enjoy it because of its refreshing water. There’s a hint of rust, yet the temperature makes drinking the water worth it. Overall, it is a very solid water fountain and ranks high in every category.

Cafeteria
Located on the outer wall of the cafeteria, this fountain is convenient for students while in their theater, health and PE classes, as well as during lunchtime. From personal experiences, students can get uncomfortably sweaty during PE, which can lead to dehydration, and going to the water fountain to cool off is heavenly. The taste of the cafeteria water is rich. With trace amounts of chlorine and mint, it is revitalizing and cold, which earns it a spot as one of the best fountains.

Main Gym
The trophy room’s water fountain at the entrance of the main gym is an absolute thirst quencher. I have found this fountain’s taste to be quite similar to the water fountain near the cafeteria. The fountain has slightly warmer water compared to the rest on this list, but it makes up for it with easy accessibility and fairly strong water pressure. This water fountain is convenient for PE students in the main gym and athletes needing a quick water break during practice.

B100-B109
A quick stroll from all English and Social Science classes, the B100s water fountain is a nice placement. Along with its convenient location, the water quality is very high in its clean flavor, with only a hint of chlorine. Although it takes a few seconds for the water to reach cold temperatures, you are all set for a hydrating break in a matter of moments.

D301-D309
Located near the end of the D wing, this fountain is perfect for people who need a quick break from math and technology classes. Though the water temperature is average and has a slightly rusty taste, it has saved me time and provided needed hydration during hard periods of Geometry. This fountain normally lacks the factor of having strong water pressure but is still a worthy contender for top fountain at SCHS.

Honorable Mention: Track
Unfortunately, this water fountain could not make the cut for the top five due to its low water quality. It is convenient, however, after completing an exhausting run on the track. The water takes a while to become cold, but if you are patient enough, this fountain becomes a good source of energy to regain your stamina, enabling you to hit the track again.
SCHS water fountains are essential for many students to stay hydrated, and exploring each one around campus has made me come to the conclusion that these five are the ones I appreciate the most.
