Girls soccer advances in CCS

The varsity girls soccer team shut out the Silver Creek Raiders Wednesday night by a score of 4-0, winning the first round of Central Coast Section playoffs.

During the first fifteen minutes of the first half, the Bruins’ dominance was not certain, despite midfielder Jessica Brasil’s goal at the beginning of the match.

When a player on each team forced play to stop, the Bruins huddled, and, according to Brasil, agreed that they had to “start talking and communicating more.”

After that huddle, forward Shaelan Murison scored her first goal of the night, making the score 2-0 at the end of the first half.

After halftime, Murison scored her second goal of the night, making the score 3-0.

“Shaelan is always important. She and Jenna Murphy are the motors of our team,” head coach Brad Comstock said.

Near the end of the match, Murphy, a forward, scored the fourth and last goal of the night, securing the team’s advancement to the next round.

Despite the bulging score, Comstock said that it hadn’t been the Bruins’ best game.

Brasil agreed, adding, “We connected passes and moved well, but we’ve got to step it up against Mountain View.”

The team faces the Mountain View Spartans at Milpitas High School on Saturday at 10 a.m.

“If we play our A-game against Mountain View, we will do really well. Anybody can beat anybody,” Comstock said.
