School registrar Lisa Mendez listens to Mr. Worldwide

This year, SCHS has welcomed many new staff members to the campus. In the accompanying q & a, we take a look at the high school experiences of Lisa Mendez, the school’s new registrar, and learn a little bit more about her.

Q: What did you want to be growing up?

A: I actually wanted to be a teacher growing up. I like kids and I used to be a preschool teacher before I started to work in the office.

Q: What high school did you go to?

A: I actually went to Wilcox High School!

Q: What’s your favorite memorable high school experience?

A: I would say all the dances. They are probably the most fun things about high school because my friends and I loved to dance and get dressed up. We would all make sure we were there and just danced the entire night.

Q: Who’s your favorite celebrity?

A: It would either be Pitbull or Bruno Mars. They both have different unique sounds and styles.

Q: What’s your guilty pleasure?

A: Ice cream and chocolate always.

Q: What advice would you give to your high school self?

A: I would tell myself to take school a lot more seriously.

Q: What is the best thing about being a registrar?

A: My favorite thing is probably being able to connect with kids and getting to talk to their families. You get to see things in different perspectives, and realize how much the student and parent is connected to the school.
