‘Spectre’ keeps James Bond action-packed and engaging

For the past 25 years, the 007 films have amazed audiences worldwide with stunning visual effects, exotic settings and suspenseful plots.

The newest James Bond film, “Spectre”, which hit theaters in November, maintains that record with not only attention-grabbing action, but also engaging characters.

The 24th film in the James Bond series continues the plot from previous movies with new characters, villains, and locations. In the film, Bond goes on a mission to uncover a threatening organization after finding an obscure message from the recently deceased M (Judi Dench), who is Bond’s boss.

With the assistance of his MI6 team, Bond receives help to keep the 007 Program from being shut down, while also stopping his greatest enemy Oberhauser (Christoph Waltz), whose organization is known as the powerful, terrorism-prone SPECTRE led by Oberhauser himself.

In his fourth turn as James Bond, Daniel Craig once again gives a complete and complex portrayal of the spy. As Bond, he shows uncommon persistence, while dismissing his superiors and taking advantage of his peers, to make sure that he saves the world.

Director Sam Mendes has created a movie that grabs the viewer’s attention, and does not let it descend into mere entertainment with its impressive visuals, scenery, and fight scenes. The film also creates an evocative mood and an atmosphere that is quite appealing to audiences.

Although fans believed that the film was not as suspenseful as the previous movie, “Skyfall,”  I thought the movie lived up to its powerful legacy and name, displaying a new chapter of Bond’s daring adventures.

Overall, I would rate this film an eight out of ten. Before I actually saw the movie, I was not a Bond fan, but after seeing it, I had a changed perception of Bond. I found the movie to be quite entertaining and appealing with the action scenes and how Bond is portrayed as a hero, putting his own life at risk to save lives.
