The Roar wins three awards from a high school journalism contest

SCHS’s student newspaper, The Roar, took home three awards in this year’s San Francisco-Peninsula Press Club’s High School Journalism Contest, including a first place to Hannah Shin for a news story and an honorable mention for general excellence to the entire staff. The awards were handed out at a ceremony at the end of May at the San Mateo County History Museum. The contest is a competition in which high school journalists throughout the Bay Area submit news stories, editorials, photos and more, which are judged by professional journalists. The Roar’s 10 entries were among a total of 441, with 47 awards given. Below is a list of awards won by The Roar:
